Intel­li­gent speed assis­tance (ISA), advanced emer­gency brak­ing and lane-keep­ing assis­tance are among a range of safe­ty mea­sures which have been giv­en approval by the Euro­pean Com­mis­sion.

Accord­ing to Elz­bi­eta Bienkows­ka, an EU Com­mis­sion­er, every year 25,000 peo­ple lose their lives on EU roads. It has been estab­lished that the vast major­i­ty of these acci­dents are caused by human error.
